How commission works here

Who pays for South African Casinos, where paid links sit and what the money is not allowed to change.

Last updated Section Guides

South African Casinos is free to read. This page explains how the site pays for itself. It sits next to the terms of use, the review disclaimer and the rating method, and the three should be read together.

Where the money comes from

The publisher, Meridune Media Group DMCC, has commercial agreements with some of the casinos reviewed here. When a reader follows a link from this site and goes on to register, that operator may owe the publisher a commission. Under a given agreement that may be a single payment per new player, a share of the operator’s revenue from that player, or both. Those payments are what keep the reviews, guides and blog running.

What it costs you

Nothing. Operators pay it from their own acquisition spend, not from your balance. Your bonus, your wagering terms and your withdrawal limits do not depend on the route you took to the casino’s sign-up page. If an offer is available only through our link, the review says so.

Where commission links sit

Not every link to a casino is paid, and not every casino on the site has an agreement with us. Paid links appear in these places:

Casino reviews
The “Visit” or “Claim” button at the top and bottom of a review.
The rankings table
Sign-up buttons beside casinos on the home page and the rating pages.
Top rand casinos
The short list in the side column of most pages.
Addresses under /go/
Any link whose address starts with /go/ is a redirect that records the visit before it sends you to the operator.

Links inside the text of a guide that point to a regulator, a bank, a game studio or a news source are ordinary references and earn nothing.

What commission cannot change

Scores come from the method published on how we rate casinos, and the same weights are used for operators that pay us and operators that do not. A payment cannot raise a score, remove a criticism or keep a lapsed bonus on a page. A casino that fails the entry checks described on the about page is left off whatever it offers.

Commission does affect one thing: whether a review carries a sign-up button. A casino we have no agreement with may still be reviewed, with the operator named but no paid link.

Exclusive offers and bonus codes

Now and then an operator gives readers of a review a code or a package that is not on its own home page. When that happens the review names the offer as exclusive and quotes its terms in the same detail as any other bonus. An exclusive offer is still the operator’s offer: it can be withdrawn, its wagering applies in full, and it is no reason to skip reading the terms.

How paid content is marked

Positions in the table are not for sale. If a page or a block is ever paid for directly, it is labelled as advertising where it appears, so that it cannot be mistaken for a review. Ordinary commission links are not labelled one by one, which is why this page lists where they sit.

Why this page exists

A reader comparing casinos is entitled to know who is paid when they sign up. Telling you plainly is cheaper for everyone than leaving you to guess, and it lets you weigh a review knowing exactly where the money comes from. If you spot a link that earns us money and is not covered by the list above, tell us and we will either mark it or add it here.

Your side of it

Before you register, read the operator’s own bonus terms and check its licence and payment options. Make sure you are 18 or over and that playing is allowed for you where you are; online casino play is not licensed in South Africa. If gambling is becoming a problem, the responsible gambling page lists where to get help.

Changes

Agreements start and end, and this page is updated when the way the site earns money changes. The stamp under the heading tells you when it was last revised. A new type of agreement is described here before it ever appears on the site.
